Sorry Steve, don't know if you've ever driven or owned a car before.
Have you ever driven through a wreck? I'm pretty sure the last thing on a drivers mind it to just mash the gas and go slamming through. They may be a little to busy just trying to get through.
As for the carb and intake. don't know where you come up with your numbers.
Race Demon carb, Barry Grant is who makes it, so wheres the Barry Grant tuning come in?
http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Garage-Sa ... ,8291.htmlAnd as for the intake, don't know where you come in with that number also.
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EDL-7101/I don't know about you, but my math comes up to $490 for both. So a 500 claim is not out of touch.
Stock out of the box 4412. You go ahead and buy one and see where you get.
You can buy 2 Demons for what a VDL is going for.
Yes, I drive.
I try not to "drive through" wrecks. I try to slow down and avoid them. Thank-you for proving my point. Stop trying to drive through, and definitely don't drive through to beat everyone else to the next "timing trap". Much safer that way. I have been wrecked by people who tried to gain positions as a wreck was happening. That is where the flaw lies in your idea of "racing" to the next timing line AFTER the area of the wreck/caution area.
Yes, I have competed with stock out of the box 4412's. I know where it got me. I have 2. I also have a VDL(bought by a sponsor). I also tried a 4412 one week this year that another competitor told me to try, that his carb guy had tweaked legally. Big differences for sure, but, you can do it right, and cheap, with a stock 4412. You don't have to spend the big money on a VDL.
Not bad. You found a carb on sale and use that as your basis for an argument. Normal cost for that carb(stock out of box from the "racing" sites such as Speedway, Summit, Jegs, etc.) is 400-450, as I stated. Add to that the 150 for the intake(per your own link), and I come up with 550-600(pretty sure that math is correct), and
haven't paid shipping yet. Oh, and BTW, call that number listed on the Barry Grant site. You can get personally tuned carbs from them directly, or send yours to them for tuning. That's where that "comes in". You really think people will stop spending money if they think their tweaked carb might be claimed? If that is the case, then don't change the rule to a different carb..... claim the stock 4412 that they are supposed to be running, and maybe you won't see so many VDL's.
All-in-all, let me end with this. I love all the banter and talk on this site. I love to see people such as skmod13, Warren, Paul, and many others putting in their 2 cents. It shows the passion people have for wanting the Bowl, the teams, and the overall program, to succeed and improve. Differences of opinion will always exist. When those differences are discussed respectfully and openly, we can all benefit from that.
